Biography

Mohammad A. Maktoomi (formally written as Md. Ayatullah Maktoomi) is an Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Virginia Military Institute (VMI). He was born in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, India. He earned his Bachelor of Technology degree in Electronics Engineering from  Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), India, in 2009. He also holds a Master of Technology and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering from Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi (IIIT Delhi), India, awarded in 2016.
Most recently, he was a faculty member in the Physics & Engineering department at the University of Scranton and a postdoctoral scholar in the iRadio Lab group at the University of Calgary, Canada. Before this, he held faculty positions at the Hindustan College of Science and Technology, Mathura, India, and at Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, India. His research interests encompass the design and analysis of radio-frequency/microwave circuits and systems for wireless communications, Internet-of-Things, and space applications.
Dr. Maktoomi is an IEEE member and a regular reviewer for several leading IEEE transactions and journals (IEEE TMTT, MWCL, TCAS-I, TCAS-II, Access). He also serves as an academic editor for the PLOS ONE journal. He has received prestigious awards and grants, including the University of Calgary Eyes High postdoctoral fellowship, the Best Student Paper Award at IEEE MWSCAS 2016, the DST Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) travel grant, and was a winner of the microstrip bandpass filter design competition held during the IEEE IMaRC 2015.

How to connect the PICkit4 programmer to a PIC MCU

The Microchip's MPLAB PICkit4 In-Circuit Programmer (ICSP) should be connected to a PIC MCU as shown in the following diagram. The programmer has 8 pins but only the first 5 pins are used for this connection. The pin number 1 on the programmer can be identified with the arrow symbol on the program as shown below. (PICkit4 Programmer*) Short male-to-male jumper wires can be used to create the 5-wire connection as follows. The programming might be successful without connecting the recommended 50 kohm resistor between the MCLR and VDD pins, but it is a good idea to follow the recommendations. *  The Microchip name and logo, the Microchip logo, MPLAB and PICkit are registered trademarks of Microchip Technology Incorporated in the U.S.A. and other countries.
